Keiser Park could become a mecca for Windsor residents

The Windsor Town Council did the right thing last week when it voted to create a master plan for Keiser Park. The large, centrally located park is an obvious location for planned amenities, including a swimming pool, sports fields and a community center.

A master plan will lay out where on the park site these projects could be built and address issues such as parking, traffic, noise and safety.

There is no doubt that some Windsor residents will agree with Councilman Sam Salmon, who likes the current rural feel of Keiser Park. Others will agree with Councilwoman Lynn Morehouse who questions whether Windsor can afford improvements to the park, given the town's other needs.

These folks and others will have opportunities to voice their opinions during the master plan process -- and they should. People should remember, too, that until the town has figured out a way to stabilize fire district revenues and has the money to actually operate a pool, it's unlikely that the visions laid out in the master plan will be realized.

Still, residents will appreciate knowing that town leaders are planning for the future when it comes to the amenities that make Windsor such an attractive location for families.
