honors.

Judges on Saturday night chose Ashley Kimball, 20, from among six contestants as 2013’s Miss Sonoma County at a ceremony at Spreckels Performing Arts Center in Rohnert Park.

Kimball is majoring in theater arts and minoring in music at Sonoma State. She will receive a $1,500 scholarship for the crown as well as $200 for the Reba Roberts Interview Award.

Kimball, who grew up in Stockton, teaches and directs children’s theater with McGrath’s Performing Arts Academy and received the university’s Evert B. Person scholarship for performing arts. She performed violin for the competition.

Windsor High junior Emily Mott, 15, was named the 2013 Miss Sonoma County’s Outstanding Teen. She will receive a $500 scholarship.

Mott, who has performed in musical and theater productions for five years, sang for the competition’s talent element. She is a dancer and wants to become a labor and delivery nurse.

Mott and Kimball will compete for California’s Outstanding Teen and Miss California, respectively, in June in Fresno.
