Old Downtown Windsor’s Halloween spirit
Through Nov. 1, the Town Green will be the home of community-created Scarecrows displaying the theme of “Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow.”
Sponsored by the Windsor Unified School District, this year’s Scarecrow Days is the eighth annual event. Over a dozen schools, businesses and individuals submitted scarecrows. Judging was completed Oct. 13. The Scarecrows will be on display through Nov. 1.
Each of the 15 scarecrows entered received a ribbon:
The Mayor’s Award, for best representation of the Town of Windsor: Windsor Wicked Girls Softball Team
Community Award, “Best representation of who our community is:” The Windsor Farmers Market
Superintendent’s Award - Mrs. Dresser’s 6-8 grade class at Windsor Middle School, and a $50 prize
The Trustees Award- Mrs. Raven Smart’s class at Windsor High School, and a $100 prize.
Downtown Merchants Award- Atrellis Flowers and Gifts
Best in Show - C*STAR with Jenson Lane Garden
The Chamber of Commerce Award – Drs. Cercone, Wear and Solomon
The Rotary Award – Boys and Girls Club
Tomorrow’s Leaders Today Award – Gateway 4-H
Humor Award- The Windsor Times
Judges’ Award - the Windsor Unified School District Staff
Fantasy Award – the Alves Family
The Kiwanis Award – Creative Thinkers Preschool
The Garden Club Award - Mrs. Hartline’s Kindergarten Class at Mattie Washburn Elementary
Youth Award - Mrs. Talley’s K-3 class at Healdsburg School
Founders Award – Mrs. Velarde’s 1st Grade class at Cali Calmecac Language Academy
Parks and Rec Award - Mrs. Brenk’s 1st Grade class at Mattie Washburn Elementary
