Input sought on Windsor's Summer Nights Town Green events

Windsor is looking for feedback on its Summer Nights Town Green events beginning with a meeting tonight at 6 o'clock at Town Hall.

Compliments, complaints and suggestions all are being sought as part of an annual evaluation process for the free concerts, movies and plays that are offered along with the farmers' market and fine arts show.

"We've invited people who participated as vendors, or sponsors, also the general public, to share anything they would like with us," said Jon Davis, Windsor recreation division manager.

Those who can't attend tonight's meeting have the opportunity to weigh in Sept. 14 when the parks and recreation commission takes up the topic.

There also will be an opportunity on Oct. 5 when the Town Council will assess potential changes to Town Green events.

People can also go to the Town's website, www.ci.windsor.ca.us to take a short survey and offer input on the events.

The Town Green free concerts are well attended with an estimated crowd of 6,000 weekly and as many as 10,000 flocking there for the most popular acts.

Davis said some topics likely to be weighed are parking and whether dogs should be allowed at events.

In the past, the evaluations and suggestions have resulted in changes, including the town subsidizing the cost of a private security guard and adding a first aid booth.
