Petaluma Woman Outruns Males in Half Marathon
Petaluma’s Sarah Hallas outfinished 627 other runners to win the Windsor Green Half Marathon on May 22.
The 31-year-old finished the 13.1 miles in 1:22.48.1. Niklas Wille, a 25-year-old from Seevetal, Germany, was the runner-up in 1:22.56.4. Santa Rosa’s Jason Saling checked in third with a 1:24.12.9 clocking.
Hallas was the fastest female in last year’s race and finished 14th overall.
Two other races were run in conjunction with the half marathon.
Santa Rosans captured the first five places in the 5k: 49-year-old Bryan Porter (18:39.3), Pete Stefanisko (19:20.3), Val Sell (19:41.6), Jacqueline Komris (19:45.9) and Karen Frindell Teuscher (20:31.3).
While 751 runners lined up for the 5k, the 10k drew 395 runners and was won by Valencia’s Jeff Jackson. The 23-year-old finished in 30:16.5.
Rounding out the top five were: Santa Rosa”s Alex Wolf-Root (32:40.2),
Jerold Drew (38:16.6), Graton’s Pat Krueger (39:33.8) and Santa Rosa’s Rob Horning (41:03.6).
